Animal Control for Ouachita Parish

      The Department of Animal Control for Ouachita Parish is responsible for protecting the public safety and health as associated with domestic and wild animals, and diseases thereto. Animal Control receives funding from the Ouachita Parish Health Unit Tax Fund through the proceeds of a special ad valorem tax of .25 mils.

      Animal control is located at 417 Well Rd, West Monroe, Louisiana. The facility was built with various donations and monies from the general funds of the parish and the health unit. The voters of Ouachita Parish in relationship to the Ouachita Parish Animal Shelter incurred no indebtedness.

All authority is granted through local ordinances, which are promulgated by the local governing body.

Ouachita Parish Animal Control serves all of Ouachita Parish.
